Consulting suite rebuild takes shape
The unusual shape of LRH’s new specialist consulting suite has generated much interest.
The building features sharp angles which differ greatly to the existing pod of suites which are home to a range of clinical services.
“We’ve had a few questions from the public as to what the building is. Clearly there’s a level of curiosity from motorists who’ve watched construction as they pass by,” LRH Chief Executive Peter Craighead said.
When completed, the building will provide space for 35 specialists including paediatricians. There will be six paediatric rooms and a separate waiting area for families.
Included in the new facility is a large general waiting area, treatment rooms, a lung function testing facility and a blood collection room.
The consulting suite replaces one which burnt down in May 2016.
“The loss of the building was upsetting for our staff and patients but it has provided us with an opportunity to create a space which is purpose-built for clinicians and specialists who bring very important services to the people of Gippsland,” Mr Craighead said.
Construction is being carried out by Warragul-based Farnham Developments which has sub-contracted aspects of the project to local tradespeople.
The building also promises a higher level of energy efficiency and water tanks to supplement usage.
Construction will be completed at the end of October.
