P.A.R.T.Y Program

Is the risk really worth it?

About P.A.R.T.Y

The Prevent Alcohol and Risk-related Trauma in Youth (P.A.R.T.Y) program at LRH connects secondary students with health and emergency services professionals to learn about the consequences of risk-taking behaviour.

Whether it’s not looking after a mate at a party or using a mobile phone while driving, P.A.R.T.Y helps young people understand that some activities could lead to injury…or worse.

P.A.R.T.Y takes place in a hospital-simulated environment to provide participants with an authentic experience of the Emergency Department, Intensive Care and Allied Health services. Participants will also meet trauma survivors and hear from police, ambulance and emergency doctors.

P.A.R.T.Y venue and cost

P.A.R.T.Y is held at Latrobe Regional Health, Village Avenue, Traralgon. However, the team has taken the program on the road to Phillip Island and Foster. If there is a need for the program in your community, please reach out to our team to discuss options.

P.A.R.T.Y is free of charge. The only cost to schools is transport to LRH and associated staffing.

Booking conditions

  • Minimum of 25 students and a maximum of 40. If you have 25 students, we may offer the other places to another school or youth group.
  • Schools are advised to have a ‘reserve’ list of students from any year level with parental consent to fill any vacancies on the day. For example, if any number of students are unable to attend the program at the last minute, you will be able to call on your reserve list to fill your booking.
  • The P.A.R.T.Y Program runs to a tight schedule as the setting is a working hospital. All schools must be at Latrobe Regional Health by 9am. Please ensure your transport on the day has factored in travel time to LRH and students are ready on time. Late-covers may experience a substantially reduced program.
  • We urge schools to select staff who are equally committed to the goals of the program, to accompany students on the day. This will ensure the lessons learnt and messages from the day continue to be shared when you return to school. We encourage all staff and parents to participate in the program’s activities.
