Living in Gippsland

Who wouldn't want to make this beautiful part of Victoria their home?

Gippsland and Latrobe City - Gunaikurnai and Bunurong Country

Drag your finger across a map from just outside Melbourne’s south eastern suburbs to the eastern tip of Victoria and you’ve discovered Gippsland. It takes in an area the size of the Netherlands and features farmland, forests, the mountains and a magnificent coastline.

These are the traditional lands of the Gunaikurnai and Bunurong Peoples. Gunaikurnai Country extends from Warragul in West Gippsland to the Snowy River in the east of Victoria. The Bunurong People are indigenous to our southern coast.

LRH has clinics and offices across Gippsland and a hospital at Traralgon in Latrobe City, the biggest urban centre in the region. Traralgon is about 150 kilometres from Melbourne, less than 2 hours drive from the city centre.

Take in the wonder of the 90-mile beach or Wilsons Promontory which are a little more than an hour’s drive. Or head north to the ski fields of Mt Baw Baw and Mt Hotham. Camp and hike through native forests or explore the Gippsland Lakes by boat.

Latrobe City is the perfect place to call home with its cafe culture, vibrant arts scene and top class sporting facilities. In 2026 we’ll be hosting athletes and events for the XXIII Commonwealth Games.

Don't take our word for it.

We love living in our region but if you're still not sold…
