Ethics and Governance

Our ethics committee meets bi-monthly to review research applications.

Research must be ethically and scientifically reviewed by a Human Research Ethics Committee (HREC) before commencing.

The HREC is a group comprising health professionals, researchers, lawyers and members of the public.

LRH’s HREC meets bimonthly to review applications for research undertaken at LRH and/or one of our four affiliate sites to ensure projects align with the National Statement on Ethical Conduct in Human Research (2007), and as updated (2018).

LRH’s Research Governance Office (RGO) facilitates feasibility and site capacity to ensure research undertaken conforms to the national standards including the National Clinical Trials Governance Framework.

In 2022 LRH’s HREC and RGO processed applications, amendments and reporting for more than 80 projects.
