Community mental health services
There are programs to support older people with a mental illness in the community. You or the person you care for will need to be referred to our community team by Mental Health Triage 1300 363 322.
Macalister Unit
People over the age of 65 with mental health or behavioural issues are cared for by the Macalister Unit at LRH.
The unit has 10 acute assessment beds for a short stay and 10 nursing home beds for people with complex needs.
Macalister offers a safe and supportive environment for residents with a range of activities and programs including art, cooking, music and games.
