Aboriginal Health Unit at LRH

Our Aboriginal Hospital Liaison officers are here to support you during your stay and help you understand hospital services and birthing options. Having a child is a really big step and it is important you feel comfortable and supported.

Ask your midwife to connect you with one of our Aboriginal Hospital Liaison officers or phone, 5173 8653 or 5173 8831 Monday to Friday from 8.30am-5pm.

Koori Maternity Service

The Koori Maternity Services Midwife Coordinator is highly skilled and offers a range of services.

The Koorie Maternity Services Midwife will assist the health of Indigenous women, their unborn infants, children, and families.

The midwife will also provide antenatal and postnatal care for women of the Latrobe community and further the education and choice for women in family planning within a community-controlled health service.

The midwife develops strategies to maximise efficient and effective delivery of maternity health services at the clinic

Maternal and Child Health Services

The First 1000 Days project run by Latrobe City Council aims to support Aboriginal families from pregnancy to the child’s second birthday in building a strong, deep and resilient connection to community and culture. It gives Aboriginal children a great start to life in their first 1000 days.
